History

Saint Katherine School was opened by the Sisters of Mercy in 1952 at Saint Barbara's Parish in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia.   The diocese recognized the need to provide a Catholic program for students with special needs. It was the first day program for children with special needs in the United States. In 1963, the diocese built the current school in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania.
